Science Writer - Consultant

Job description
A science writer researches, writes and edits scientific review articles and project reports. Writers need to be able to understand and communicate complex scientific information, theories and practices in a clear, concise language that can be understood by people who may be not experts in these fields, while also maintaining accuracy. The exact work activities the writer undertakes will depend upon the nature of the role. Common activities include:
- producing review articles for publication according to agreed style and to strict deadlines
- reading and researching specialist literature, e.g. scientific papers, project reports and journals
- meeting with colleagues to plan the content of a document
- conducting reference searches
- reviewing own work and amending work in response to feedback
- selecting appropriate artwork
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have at least an MS degree (or BS with appropriate experience) in a life science (biology, chemistry, immunology or biochemistry). They will have at least 4 years (MS) or 8 years (BS) of experience in writing various types of documents in support of projects including scientific reviews and project reports, with the flexibility and passion for accepting assignments in new areas. Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Adobe and related software) and fluency in the English language is required. The position requires a strong background in the life sciences. Experience in cardiovascular biology is preferred and a plus. Excellent and verifiable written and verbal communication skills are a must. Multi-faceted experience writing various scientific documents in support of drug development programs.
