Responsible for the accurate processing and accounting of bi-weekly payrolls.  Completes review and input of payroll related forms and documents to payroll system (ADP). Performs audit and input of timecards, transmission of 401K contributions, preparation of payroll journal entries and reconciliations. Assists with month end close, including accrual journal entries, payroll balance sheet and expense account reconciliations. 

Responsibilities

·         Review all payroll related forms and documents to ensure that they are in compliance with laws and regulations.

·         Ensure payroll processes follow laws and regulations to remain compliant.

·         Assist in processing semi-monthly multi-state payroll for 225+ employee base.

·         Process and audit data entry & import/export interfaces for employee changes and make any corrections/adjustments. Audit for accuracy and ensure appropriate adjustments are made, such as retroactive pay, pay adjustments, new hires and terminations.

·         Respond to employees on all payroll-related inquiries in a timely manner to provide excellent customer service.

·         Preparation of manual checks for out-of-cycle payments.

·         Assist with special projects as related to the payroll function in order to bring value to the company through streamlining processes, automation, etc.

·         Upload and audit timecards from automated timekeeping system.

·         Audit federal and state mandated deductions.

·         Audit optional (employee benefit) deductions.

·         Process garnishments.

·         Maintain/track spreadsheet for specified payroll(s).

·         Conduct final payroll audit and review of input.

·         Process payroll through ADP’s PayExpert.

·         Transmit 401K contributions to provider.

·         Process manual checks, stop payments and direct deposit recalls.

·         Assist employees with payroll related questions and issues.

·         Produce payroll related reports using report writer.

·         Prepare all payroll related journal entries and accruals.

·         Prepare payroll related balance sheet and expense account reconciliations on monthly basis.

·         Manages all data and information in confidential manner.

·         Manage relationship / services of payroll vendor(s).

·         Routine file maintenance.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

·         AA Degree in accounting or finance.

·         7 to 10 years of prior payroll processing experience.

·         Experience with ADP required.

·         Ability to maintain accurate payroll records, analyze accounts and perform clerical tasks.

·         Complete understanding of payroll process, tax laws and SOX policies & controls.

·         Self starter with ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

·         Must be fluent in verbal and written English.

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·         Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook applications.

·         Ability to disseminate information from various processes/resources.

·         Ability to work well under pressure.

·         Ability to work well with others.
