·      Primary purpose is to provide stable processes and tool configurations for etch customer support .  Focus is on Deep Silicon etch and other MEMS related etch processes. 

Attributes Required to be Successful:

Ability to:

·      Create and support etch processes needed by SVTC and its customers insuring that these processes are stable and effective.

·      Utilize SPC monitoring to control processes within the area to target levels as defined by area goals.

·      Insure that the correct SPC metrics are being tracked.

·      Manage and monitor supplier support for tools.

·      Troubleshoot process interaction issues on developmental and customer processes to insure compatibility. 

Knowledge/Skills/Training Required to be Successful:

·      B.S. Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or Material Science.

·      At least 3 years experience as an etch process engineer in a semiconductor wafer fab.

·      Must have excellent knowledge of etch/MEMS processing.

·      Knowledge of statistical process control and statistically designed experiments.

·      Excellent written and oral skills required. 

Other Requirements:

·      Requires deep, hands-on knowledge of etch optimization.

·      Specific knowledge and experience etching metal films (such as Ni, Fe, Co, Pt, Ru, Cu, and Ag films), from both the process and tool perspective. 

·      Specific knowledge of silicon, oxide, gate, metal, and novel metal etches (such as Ni, Fe, Co, Pt, Ru, Cu, Ag containing films).

·      Requires ability to design and conduct DOEs to develop and optimize etches.

·      Must understand SPC and other fab quality systems.

·      Wet etch and cleans experience a plus.

·      Requires strong ownership/responsiveness in a manufacturing environment, strong technical team direction skills, good data analysis/statistics skills.

·      Requires interface with all levels of management within SVTC and equipment supplier organization as well as key managers and directors of specific projects.

·      Experience leading technical projects.

·      Must be able to discern color variations.

·      Some parts of the fab may require hearing protection.

·      Must be fluent in verbal and written English.

·      Must have Microsoft Office experience.  

Pluses:

·      Litho area knowledge is a plus.

·      Wet etch and cleans experience.

·      Process know-how for fabrication of MEMS devices.

·      Technology transfer experience to high volume manufacturing.

·      Experience working with external customers on successful completion of engineering projects. 

Special Physical Requirements or Restrictions? Able to work in semiconductor fab environment: ability to stoop, kneel, bend in full clean room suit; safety glasses and ear plugs may be required.
