POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for setting the Corporate strategy for and managing the Quality Program of multiple manufacturing sites, integrated partners and suppliers, and managing the Global Quality function for a company engaged in consultative engineering and specialty production. Ensure that internal processes and metrics are aligned to create the highest product quality and sustainable competitive advantage. Working independently, this key position will be responsible for substantially strengthening the Company’s quality systems and for determining the appropriate infrastructure and resources required to achieve business objectives. Additional responsibilities will include providing leadership and strategic direction in the systemic deployment of quality systems. The position will be responsible for building strong relationships with customers and suppliers. Must drive, participate in, and improve internal and external quality audits and lead Company efforts regarding Certification Programs such as ISO9000 and 13485 (Medical Device), as well as Military Certifications. Due to its significance to the Company, this position will have a direct reporting relationship to the CEO.
ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Interpersonal Skills: Manage quality control personnel on a day-to-day basis. Interact with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel.
Communication Skills: Must possess excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Serve as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement. Report to management on quality issues, trends, losses, and strategy.
Strong computer skills including quality control applications, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
Thorough understanding of general safety requirements.
Training in foreign object damage awareness.
Understanding of Mil Standards.
Develop, implement, manage and integrate a QMS for manufacturing plants.
Design, implement and document procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
Establish and implement metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions.
Perform root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
Establish collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement.
Professional Skills: The candidate must have at least 10 years of Executive level Quality Management experience, which includes experience in Quality Systems Management, QA Administration, QA Engineering, QA Audit and Inspection and Test experience within the Semiconductor, Medical Device or Defense industry.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Business Administration. Master’s Degree Preferred.
Preferably Senior Manager/Director specializing in Quality Control/Assurance, Manufacturing/Production Operations or equivalent. Experience in design/prototype manufacture is desirable. Six Sigma black-belt certified with a proven track record of business performance improvement. Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control.
Work performed in an office and factory settings. Exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, odors and fumes. Occasionally required to lift up to 20 lbs. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach and move about facilities.
